Comfortably warm underfoot
A cold tiled floor is the most common complaint in Spanish homes. Insulation under or on top of the floor stops the cold, without having to install underfloor heating.
The cold comes from below
Spanish floors often sit directly above an unheated garage, a crawl space or the ground, with no insulation layer in between. The result is a floor that stays close to the temperature of what is underneath all year round: pleasantly cool in summer, but unpleasantly cold in January.
Which solution fits depends on what is below your floor. If the underside is accessible, we insulate there and your floor stays untouched. If not, we work from above with a thin build-up under the new floor finish.

With an accessible crawl space or garage we work entirely from below.

The insulation also acts as a vapour-retarding layer.

Do you live above an unheated garage or storage room? Then the floor is often where you gain the most.
Floor height
When working from above the layer stays thin, so doors usually do not need adjusting.
Combine
Combined with wall insulation the difference in winter is greatest.
